Wanna make your own Falooda? Here we go famous Basil Seed With Rose Drink Falooda recipe. This was the case for this falooda. Never I had seen in books of Indian cuisine, still less to the restaurant... Kezako? Well it's both a drink and a dessert... According to its composition... Everyone has his recipe... Basically, it is a sweet rose water beverage, topped with vermicelli or jelly agar-agar, seeds soaked in water before basil, sweet milk, crushed... cream or whipped cream... ice or vanilla ice cream... In short what you love!
It is a very refreshing drink and above all very exotic! I had bought it in the form of bag, and I tested when I return home!.. I don't in had never redone since... lack of find... I don't live over in Paris for a few years... and the seeds of Basil... There is not here... Then... Until the day where Shamepices sends me a bag of these famous seeds! What chance! Like what he would have it! :o) therefore, still thank Santos for his choice, which allowed me to feast me on this delight! This time, without bag, I made my express version... But I also have an authentic recipe, which I found in my fabulous book India, flavors of the end of the world of Michel Lafon, which I have already mentioned several times... Whatever it is, I invite to discover this dessert/drink that will make you discover a new texture, you can be sure! See rather more...

For 1 Cup:

1CC of Basil seeds (also called tulsi, or still takmaria - not easy to find in trade, seed but now you know where you supply!)
Rose syrup
Milk
Mung bean vermicelli (bean - found in Asian grocery stores, and on the shelves of hypermarkets)
Whipped cream (I use it & Vire held excellent)
Cardamom powder
Red dye (optional)

Soak the seeds of Basil in a small bowl of water cold 1 h before.

Watch as this is funny! Barely dipped in cold water, a whitish dandruff formed all around...

What gives them a texture out of the ordinary... it looks like small eyes! These seeds are very popular in India because they are very refreshing... I just found out (here) that they have properties and appetite suppressant, good to know when it monitors its line! especially for the Dukan diet, since they also affect constipation... But we should ask Dr. Dukan if it is an authorized food! :o)

Cook the soya (as of pasta) vermicelli and cool with cold water (very quick operation - it takes the equivalent of a good spoon soup for 1 cup).

In a Cup, pour a syrup and rose red dye if you want (I have 1 drop).

Add the drained noodles, and then the Basil seeds also drained.

Pour the milk, crushed ice, a scoop of ice cream vanilla (or strawberry, or other!) If you want... and finish with a cloud of whipped cream!

Sprinkle Basil seeds and cardamom to decorate and enjoy without waiting!

After a spicy meal, it is a real joy!

While browsing the web, I found interesting things on the Basil; including this: "L?India, d? where are the Gedane oils, links to Vishnu and Krishna. L? lover of Krishna Tulsi was transformed into Basil. Homer and the Greeks wrote 'European' mythologies very inspired by those of the Indian subcontinent with the demigods who always turn into plants by the gods when they are angry, jealous etc. "And the gods must always be somewhere between the leaves of this plant which Indians are necklaces of divine protection."
